#KateBriggs24 Final Meeting and Introducing #AContinuation25
Hello everyone! I have two pieces of news for you this time around. First, we are holding a #KateBriggs24 wrap-up meeting on Sunday, November 24th, at 12pm PST, 3pm EST, and 8pm GMT. You can use this link to join us. All are welcome! Hope to see you there.
Second, we are not actually finished with this project! It will go on in 2025 under the hashtag #AContinuation25, which is inspired by the first line of The Long Form:
The beginning of each new project was always a continuation.
The first stage of our “new project,” which is actually a furthering of the old one, will be to read Henry Fielding’s Tom Jones, the book Helen reads in The Long Form, during December and January.
Kim has created a page guide, which you can access here. As always, read at your own pace and contribute in whatever way you like. I will be posting mainly on Bluesky and Instagram (I’ll add my accounts and Kim’s below). You can search both sites using #AContinuation25 and catch up at any time. Comments on Substack are welcome, and, if there is interest, we will continue to hold video calls. If video calls do interest you, please let us know. I won’t be able to send out regular newsletters as I did this past year, but you’ll hear from me occasionally when we have updates or news.
Our plan after Tom Jones is to read Roland Barthes’s The Neutral, translated by Rosalind Krauss and Denis Hollier, followed by Proust’s In Search of Lost Time. Dates on these later books are TBD, but roughly we plan to cover The Neutral in late winter and Proust beginning in spring. Stay tuned for more information.
Kim has updated the website, and you can find SO MUCH information on this project there. She has rounded up interviews, articles, reviews, and a lot more, as well as information on Roland Barthes, Elizabeth Jane Howard, and other authors and texts related to the main project. Check it out — it’s a fabulous resource.
That’s it for now. Talk to you soon!
